We finally have a winter in the San Joaquin Valley! My succulents aren’t thrilled, hopefully they do ok, but it’s so nice to have cold weather for a change! We had our best Christmas yet, complete with a visit from Santa on Christmas eve, the kids were in awe.
Frozen Almond tree, everything was covered in frost this morning.
We made our annual Christmas ornaments with our friends, the DeMercados, and Mama DeMercado have me the best mug ever.
I did a fundraiser and was ableto buy 13 Arbonne shower sets for our local woman’s shelter, Hannah’s House. One of the best parts of my holiday season. I love Arbonne!
So cozy. I hope you all had a peaceful and relaxing holiday!
For whatever reason, Tuesdays are meaner than Mondays this year . It seems consistent, if I’m going to get bad news, it happens on Tuesday.
Yesterday morning was glorious though. This is what happened while we were waiting for my son’s bus.
Central California isn’t beautiful at first glance. Or at most glances, haha. The sky makes up for the general ugliness, (thanks drought!), being within driving distance of the coast and the Sierra Nevada helps too. I am leaning to find beauty if less obvious places, and the less I resent being here, the easier they are to find.
The cotton field we live next to was harvested this last week, I’m not sure why so much gets left behind…
It was in the 70’s today, and the cotton harvest has started, which is great because it had rained on this crop twice and I hear that isn’t ideal? Final selfie with this year’s cotton, haha. I live right next to it but know next to nothing about it, I should work on that.
For the whole summer this valley is naturally brown, dusty and HOT, but the cotton field was a green break for my eyes! The flowers, seed pods and then cotton, are each beautiful and still remarkable to me.
Now the fields with be brown but every else will start perking up! Mostly the weeds though… haha
On Wednesday’s my son doesn’t have school, but we magically wake up early anyway. We went out and watched the sun come up this morning… so good for the soul! I watch the sunrise and sunset as often as I can, makes me feel more centered.
I treasure these moments, and these photos!
